The awards are judged by an esteemed panel of industry leaders and experts, the judging is a rigorous two stage process including pre-scoring to determine shortlists and a judging meeting where entries are discussed and evaluated in detail to decide the winning entries.

From a transparency perspective, we may video aspects of the judging session to show on the evening and give entrants an insight into why a winning entry was chosen.

Tom Armenante

Ecommerce Manager at Nicole Farhi, Wolsey & BLKDNM |

Tom Armenante is the Ecommerce Manager for the high-end fashion brands Wolsey, Nicole Farhi and BLK DNM and is charged with maintaining the sites and driving online revenue for the brands. Previously Tom was the Head of SEO at Matalan, where he was responsible for organic growth and working with the internal teams in driving e-commerce performance. During his time at Matalan he oversaw the successful backend migration onto the Shift Ecommerce platform. 

Prior to Tom’s role at Matalan he worked at the award-winning SEO Agency, Branded3 where he helped to formulate the search strategy for some of the UKs largest brands. Tom’s experience spans a variety of sectors including outdoor fitness, home renovation and financial comparison.

In his spare time he likes to put his knowledge to good use and is focussed on continuing the successful growth of his niche e-commerce site Gocableties

He has been CIO/Director for 5 well-known internet pureplays and has been voted into the CIO 100 for the last 3 years, two of which he was voted #1 in pureplay eCommerce.

He was a judge on the Retail Week Technology Awards panel for 5 years and has also contributed as a writer to many industry articles and spoken widely at seminars and conferences.

Starting out as a market trader selling short-dated stock, Dan progressed into food wholesale, supplying other market traders. From wholesale, he moved into a number of retail outlets that supplied both the public and wholesale trade where finally, Approved Food was born in 2009. Dan’s background as a test development engineer at Sony Ericsson was pivotal knowledge in the sense of software, systems and processes that has helped turn Approved Food into the efficient, low waste, high productivity business it is today.  All the programming and stock handling software has been developed by Dan, starting with the barcode scanning programme he designed almost 15 years ago.
